About the Role

The Accountant will provide support to the Business Unit General Manager to assist with the effective running of the business unit.

The job holder will provide accurate and timely financial information and build strong collaborative relationships with the Operational and Administrative staff within their BU. They will also indirectly report to the Senior Finance Business Partner providing monthly reports and management accounts.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Make sure transactions are accurately recorded in a timely manner and in accordance with the group and accounting rules.
• Preparation of Accruals, Prepayments, Fixed Asset Depreciation.
• Report the quarterly lease obligations.
• Quarterly Intercompany Reconciliations.
• Checking the coding of invoices and approving all overhead costs within the approval limits.
• Justification of the Balance Sheet figures by performing balance sheet reconciliations.
• Monitor and report off-balance sheet commitments.
• Be prepared to develop/apply the technical accounting knowledge obtained in their professional training to ensure the correct treatment of financial transactions.
• Able to manage all audit inquiries and justify financial decision making and control processes.
• Preparation of Statutory Accounts.
• Provide support and assistance to the Payroll Administrator as and when required.
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns and associated monthly EC Sales and Intrastat submissions.
• Utilise VAT knowledge to advise BU’s on VAT implications on certain transactions.
• Prepare the Corporation Tax information to Tax Advisors for review and submission.
• Compute Deferred tax workings for group and statutory workings.
• Be actively involved with the annual budget preparation process.
• Regular analysis of KPI’s such as invoice lag, debtors, variances and productive hours.

Requirements

  • CIMA/ACCA/ICAEW Degree or equivalent accounting qualification.

  • Advanced financial management training.

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a company financial role with +20 staff.

  • Strong experience with companies managing multiple projects.

  • Experience in preparing Statutory Accounts.

  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills, along with strong attention to detail.

  • Critical and strategic thinking skills.

  • A solid commercial awareness is required, as is the ability to liaise and influence at a senior level.

  • Strong people skills to create a team approach and mentor.

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills are imperative for this role. The person will need to be a confident communicator, across all levels both internally and externally.

  • Ability to translate financial analysis in to clear strategic objectives.
